21th December

Woke up early in the morning to catch our flight at 8am. It was a four-hours flight and i had to spent my time in the plane watching movies. Upon our arrival at Taiwan, we headed for a park with a miniature zoo. All the animals looked cute as they were all lego-sized. I was extremely eager to hop on one of the rides in the zoo! Unfortunately, the rides were all closed down as it was drizzling. As a result, we had decided to go to our hotel. We quickly checked into our hotel before visiting the night market. The trip to the night market took 30 minutes. At my first glance of the night market, i was astonished! There was a variety of stalls in the night market selling all kinds of goods from bags to food and even toys. I was spoilt for choices and did not know what to buy. Eventually, i spent several new taiwan dollar to buy food and gifts.

FOOOOOOD :D

22nd December

I left my hotel first thing in the morning with the excitement of seeing what Taiwan has to offer. We first visited a famous gallery in Taiwan. I was easily amazed by the arts presented for display. Personally, i really loved the arts there and really appreciated the time and effort spent into making them. Next, i took a two-hours bus ride to Taiwan's famous river - Danshuei River It was huge and the view given was breath-taking. There were many shops settled along the river. Selling many different beautiful items. We spent majority of our time there shopping for souvenirs and personal items for ourselves. After all the shopping, we left for our net destination - a mochi factor Mochi is a famous Japanese rice cake where its made up of short-grain japonica glutinous rice. Not only were we able to see how mochi was made, but we also got the chance to make it ourselves. I was trilled when i heard that we were given the chance to make it. It was a unforgettable experience as all the hard work we had to go through (pounding the rice into paste and molded into the desired shape) After a long tiring day, we went to night market for dinner. We had soup with rice for dinner and it was delicious. My cousins and I then played the arcade inside the night market. To my amazement, i actually won a soft toy!

23rd December

I woke up today with the eagerness of touring Taiwan. With that in mind, i travelled to Riyue River to catch a glimpse of the most beautiful and clearest waters in Taiwan. The view was so amazing to the extent that words alone cannot describe the beauty of it. Futhermore, the heavenly warmth from the morning sun at that point in time added on to my great experience there.
We then hopped onto the bus to travel down to a paper factory. The ride took four hours long. bringing extreme boredom to me, as if the plane ride two days ago was not monotonous enough. Soon enough, we reached the paper factory where all kind of products was made out of paper. To be honest, I was really amazed at the factory workers who created all these products as they made them seem so realistic that at one glance, it does not even look like paper at all. I was really wishing that I could bring one of those products home but sadly, there were not for sale. That disheartened me slightly.
My spirits were soon brought back up as we next visited the mountains to see sheep! The sheep seems so cute, roaming all around freely. Apparently, we were allowed to feed them. I was honestly feeling scared, but I still managed to feed them.
We next checked into our new hotel which was nested on the mountain. It was freezing up there despite having so many heat packs in my hand. Thankfully, there was a fireplace outside the hotel. We decided to hang out around the fireplace before turning in late.

24th December

Woke up early in the morning to get ready to travel to the other side of Taiwan for our home stay experience. I was super eager to go over and see how it looks like! It was a 8 hours bus ride and i spent half the time sleeping and listening to music. When we arrived, we had to take van up the mountain as the tourism bus was unable to go up due to the narrow road. It was amazing to know that the people who stayed there raised wild boar, rabbits and chickens. We quickly settled in and went up the mountain to get our late lunch and see the wild life animals! The residents took us around and introduced the different places they have and the different type of plants/crops they grow. After spending a lazy afternoon and watching the sun set, dinner was served. All the home-cooked food was delicious and they taught us how to make coffee. The tour guide brought us fireworks to celebrate a new year together :). Great night spent.
